May 27th, 2004

I’ve been REALLY bad about this lately. I’m never home anymore and when I am, I’m always have too much to tell you to try to say one thing.

Ok, so the trip… first off, I was sick. I picked up a bug from Kerry two days before I left. Flavia did give me some miracle Chinese herbs that worked pretty damn good. I had a bronchial infection threatening to take over.

We arrived at the hostel at 1am on Friday. We weren’t tired, so we went for a drink at The View (a Chelsea gay bar). It just so happened to be one of those secret days when I totally misjudge my tolerance, and I got so drunk. Completely on accident. I didn’t sleep well at all. What I’m getting at is that I went to get a 3 hour tattoo on my spine when I was hungover as hell, tired as hell, and sick as hell. Chris and I only took two very brief breaks. One so he could drink some tea and one so I could pee. I’m one tough bitch! AND!!!!! my tattoo is FUCKING COOL AS HELL!!! I’m SO HAPPY with it! But of course, why wouldn’t I be?! I’m one lucky girl! Chris is so busy now, I don’t know how he breathes. He just left for Japan yesterday.

Friday night we went and saw Big in Japan at Pianos. That was fun. Ed doesn’t play in the side project, but he was there. He invited Melissa and I to the after party at Rothko. We went, but we were so tired that we left shortly after getting there. We did it basically to say we did, but that’s it. Actually I really had to talk her into it. She’s not as crazy about those guys as I am. She enjoyed herself, though.

Saturday we ran around all day. Melissa has had an obsession with the Chrysler building since she was a kid. It was really fun to watch her with it. We went to Central Park. We went H&M shopping. We went to a few pubs. We also went on a mission to find someone cool to cut all of her hair off, but that was too much of a last minute effort. It was late Saturday night before someone recommended Bumble and Bumble. Maybe there’s a new trip in the planning ;) Um, first I have to pay off this one! It might take me a few months (eeks). Saturday night we happened across a little bar called Apocalypse. A girl walking by gave us free drink passes. It was fun. We made a crew of friends and ended up celebrating someone’s birthday with them. We went to their little hang out garden and mingled and stuff. Later this girl busted out her super cool ass pop up book collection. I’ve got to get one of those!

Sunday, we missed our flight but managed to get on standby for one that left two hours later. Boy, I didn’t want to come back!!

So, that’s about it. I’ll have pictures to you soon enough. It’s really itchy right now.

  1. What is it with Pianos? Of ALL the bars in NYC, somehow we always manage to end up at that one.
