The Cremaster Cycle is playing in Richmond this weekend at The Byrd. Too bad I have to work. I would’ve liked to have seen them in a theatre.
I wish there was a market for art films here. The Naro would never show these. They are too concerned with money these days. They have to cater to idiots who think “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” is the greatest movie ever made. (Did I mention they are bringing “What the Bleep” back this weekend? argh!!!)
Hopefully they will come to Richmond again one day, and I will find out about it far enough in advance to make plans to see them.

I just realized that Lovage’s Mike Patton is the same as Medulla’s Mike Patton. Now I can’t wait to go home and listen to that album again. Woo hoo!!!!!!
today = new Nick Cave
today = bean dip with Chair and Faith
today = many fun presents and good wishes
today = lots of fun
Oy! I just got my hair done. It hurt like hell. It was like getting a corset for my head. It looks really fun though. I like it.
The makeup is pretty boring. Last time I got makeup done there they had lots of fun stuff to choose from, but today it was really plain and conservative. I’ll have to doctor it a bit before the wedding. Get all glittery and stuff. :-)
Last night we went out to Bardo with the wedding gang for dinner/desserts. It was sooo delish! Then James, Chair and I went to The Garage. Chair and I played our own version of pool while James flirted with everyone he could. Many embarrassing pictures to follow…….
UPDATE
James seems to have stolen our great roll of film, so this is all I am left with. Check out that hickey!

After much planning, when we arrived at the Taphouse tonight, Neil told us that they had just sold out of Pumpkin Ale last night.
arrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

Okay, so “Three Kings” was supposed to be re-released in theatres to promote the new Special Edition DVD coming out. To help beef up the DVD, David O. Russell filmed a short documentary entitled “Soldiers Pay” as a follow up to the movie. It features interviews with Iraqi refugees who acted as extras in “Three Kings”, human-rights officials and veterans of the Iraq conflict. The documentary was also scheduled to be screened with the theatrical release.
After viewing the completed doc, Warner Bros. decided not to distribute it. They felt that it was too political to be released right before the November election. They did, however, allow Russell to find a new distributor.
Cinema Libre picked up the film and showed it on a double bill with “Uncovered: The War on Iraq”. (we didn’t get it at the naro though. we just showed “uncovered” a few weeks ago). It also made it’s way onto the DVD release of “Uncovered”.
But what about the DVD release of “Three Kings”? Russell isn’t optimistic that it will come out any time soon. And I can’t find any info on what became of the theatrical release.
