James had his senior show (?) opening reception last night and he sent me this link to a brief review of it. I think it’s pretty funny that of the 3 people this guy did like, 2 of them were James and Art. That’s gotta be weird…
I like the photos that are up on James’s site a lot better than the ones on the Parsons page.
[warning - the Parsons site is really slow and James's site is still very incomplete]

hah, Art’s so silly. He pictures remind me so much of Charlie White.
Sometimes you just need a good sunshine day and some fun tunes…..

Saul Williams kicked ass tonight! It was all I could ever have hoped for and more. I’m so glad I didn’t make it in to the Temple Bar in Santa Monica after waiting in line to see him for two hours. It probably would’ve been a disappointing audience if any of my other concert experiences in Los Angeles say anything.
I managed to ward off a potential attacker in the train on the way home too. Living in the suburbs isn’t exactly safe.

I was hunting around today on Polaroid2Go for film for my (sadly discontinued) Polaroid Mio and stumbled across this Polaroid back for the Holga 120S.
This is the coolest thing ever!!!!!!!!!!
I ordered it right away, of course. Now I really need to get those fisheye and tunnelvision lenses that I’ve been drooling over for months. (but I refuse to pay lomographic prices for that crap!)
I finally found an app that will enable me to use my iPod Shuffle without iTunes and be able to share files between my computers.
Hip hip hooray!!!

So, The Cure is re-releasing Seventeen Seconds, Faith, and Pornography next week (Apr 26). They will each be a double disc set with lots of bonus material. This is so annoying! How can I save money for Beijing if all these new cds keep coming out?
The Cure is so notorious for this. You have to buy every format for every release to get all the songs. I was extrememly excited when they re-released Three Imaginary Boys because that album never even had a US release. But not only were Seventeen Seconds, Faith, and Pornography released here by Elektra, they are still available! They are re-releasing albums that aren’t even out of print! Silly.
I am happy to see that the Faith disc will have “Carnage Visors”. That was only available on cassette before. And I’m sure all of the other stuff will be loads of fun, it just still annoys me.
Plus - the website says “Track details of the next round of re-mastered re-releases,” which to me implies that they are going to keep going with this. How many unheard Cure songs can there possibly be?!?! They just put out a 4-disc box set last year.
This is worse than a Björk collection anyday!
We just got back from the HBMS show at 9:30. It was mostly cool. I got to see Rowland for a split second. I wish we could’ve talked more. I didn’t even get to update him on the ole Clancy and Oso.
I feel honored to of taken the Jules to his first ever hip hop show. It was cute. Probably similar to me at the Skinny Puppy show. It really made me miss you though, Chair. The old Infectious days.
We got to the club at 8:30, and the Rondo Brothers were already on. I only got to see their last two songs, which I was REALLY sad about. I was mostly looking forward to seeing them. I guess (hope) they had a super short set. I would’ve flipped to hear “Ukelele Poo-Poo Platter” live. At least I got “Hey Stewardess”.
After the Rondo’s, Opio (from Souls of Mischief) made a special appearance. That was a fun surprise! He did about 4 songs. The Rondo kids played back up for most of the acts, so I got to see them all night, just not as a group.
K-OS was the third act, and I have to say, he completely stole the show. His set was so tight! It was perfect. His guitarist was amazing. He looked just like Jeff Piper. And the bass player had a Nosferatu shirt on and the drummer had a pirate one. So cute!
As much as I love me some Automator and Prince Paul, I gotta say the whole HBMS part of the show was crap. It was so unorganised and the sound was awful. They would project cartoon characters on the back wall to represent the people that weren’t there. It was a fun idea, but it just didn’t work. When they did “Metaphysical” you couldn’t even here Miho’s part.
Casual was their main guest for the evening. Josh Haden was there to do “Sunshine”. The best part of their set was that at the end Dres came and not only did his HBMS songs, but also did “The Choice Is Yours” from the Black Sheep days. Yay!!!!! It was soooo fun.
Now we are back in our fave DC hotel, The Carlyle Suites, and it’s time for maxin and relaxin! (Julio says that the Carlyle has the best pillows of any hotel)
Cheers! Thanks for the drink!
