Friday night I saw James’s stepmom and stepsister at Rocky. It was so fun and random.

I talked to Kathy for a while, just catching up on stuff. She asked how my Mom and Dad were doing. I told her that Linda was doing very well and that she was one of the top agents in this area. She replied with a “good for her” and then added a “good for you too, I’m sure. I seem to remember you being pretty spoiled by her.”

ahahahha.

So true. I love it. Linda rules!

I saw Relative Theory Josh last night at Taphouse. I was telling him about my upcoming Gogol Bordello show. He wasn’t familar with them, but the name seemed to ring a bell. Then he remembered - Gogol wanted to book at show at the store, but there was already a band scheduled for that night.

WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!

Gogol Bordello wanted to play in Norfolk! I could have had Eugene Hütz right here in my open arms!

Oh the shame.

I made Kristina a Gogol Bordello mix cd and a copy of one of their live shows since she has never heard them before. I wanted her to see what she was getting herself into.

Julio said, “Why does she want to go so bad if she has never even heard them?”

I’m not quite so sure myself. It does seem odd, but I say, “That’s the amazing power of Eugene Hütz!”

I Don't Think I Can Shout Loud Enough

Here’s a clip from the beginning of Everything Is Illuminated featuring my super crush, Eugene Hütz.

I took a lot of pictures for you! The singer, I forget her name, was so stunning. She had the most piercing eyes I’ve ever seen. She’s also five months pregnant.

I had so much fun, but Elysee Montmartre really doesn’t have the best sound system. I thought so when I went to see Saul Williams too.

I’m stuck in Amsterdam again. My bus was late yesterday and I didn’t get the chance to contact my couch hostess before all the internet cafes closed. Cadine, Jeffrey Owen Smith’s friend that lives here, and I went to see Animal Collective at Paradiso. It’s a venue built into an old church. It has stained glass and everything. The floor was a trash can, though. You couldn’t walk two steps without having to dodge empty beer cups. We assumed that there was only one big stage and waited for a long time downstairs. After awhile we got concerned because it was getting late and you had to buy a separate ticket for the later show. I asked a guy if it was the only stage, and of course it wasn’t. We ran upstairs and caught the last four songs. What we caught was really good, but it would’ve been better if we had experienced the whole ride. They’re that kind of band.

Cadine is incredibly cute. She and I had a lot of things in common. She grew up in Japan, has a French dad, a mom from Ohio. Her mom’s a leo. She’s a taurus (like my mom). She and I have the same basic fear of commiting to a job or a place. She’s been travelling for seven years and is ready to shed her luggage for a home. Only, she still doesn’t know where. I wonder if I’ll have that problem in seven years. She paints too.

I ended up getting a last minute hostel room at a discount. The guy felt bad for me because some street rat was pestering me, so he gave me my own room for 40 euro. More than I wanted to spend, but a lot less than the going rate. It was all that was available.

This morning I went to the airport to try my luck, waited at the ticket counter for a half an hour before I was told that Icelandair doesn’t fly out of Amsterdam on Friday. Oh. Ok. So, here I am again. Just waiting around with a whole city to see and a flight to worry over. Luckily, I put my luggage in storage at the airport this time.

Hopefully, I’ll catch a flight tomorrow evening and be on my way home. This is the cheap way home, but boy, it’s a pain in the ass. I need a nap.
