Yesterday was Mr Whisker’s one week deathday, but I didn’t get any pics of him. Found a dead squirrel instead.
There’s not much left.
He did move again though. It rained really hard last night, which may have something to do with it.

The dead animal thing just won’t stop. What is going on?
The other night on the way home, there was a dead raccoon in the road. This, of course, meant that we had to go home and get a box so Julio could scoop him up. He smelled really bad, due to the feces that had squirted out of him when he got hit. He wasn’t too mauled though. A bloody head, but still completely recognizable.
There will be no decay evaluation for this guy. That would be way too gross, even for me. Instead, we took a few pictures and then Julio buried him in the back yard. In 9 months or so he will be exhumed for bones.

Then yesterday as we were walking down the street, we came across this dead squirrel. He was just so comical looking. That bright red ketchup blood. His bulging eye. One should always carry a camera for such occasions.
We walked back home so Jules could get something to scoop him up with (again, just for bones this time) but by the time he got back, the squirrel was nowhere to be found. Someone had not only removed him, but had also cleaned the blood off the street.
Weird.
(well, maybe not as weird as collecting dead animals for bones and pictures, ha.)
Today when I got to work I saw Alison Heckle (!) and John Upton. Such a lovely surprise.

He moved. I don’t know if a creature moved him, or if the bugs living in him moved him.
I vote for bugs. I think if it had been another animal pawing at him, he would have fallen apart.
Yuck.
