Jared just asked me to take a break from painting and help him move the mouse cage outside. I assumed he was going to give it a good hosing down. Once outside and talking about cleaning projects, I was shocked to learn that he had liberated the mice. He set them free in a brush pile with piles of food. I really could not believe it. I’m still in shock.

Yes, I complained about the smell, and yes, their breeding was out of control, but geez - I wish he had told me he was doing that. I didn’t even get to say goodbye.

It’s so unlike him to just discard a pet like that. He fully intends on monitoring the brush pile and keeping it supplied with food. I know they are just mice, but I still feel weird about it.

Au revoir little meeces. Good luck out there.
