Nikon has FINALLY released a cute and compact point and shoot with manual exposure modes. The Coolpix S710 needs to be mine, and it needs to be mine soon.
I’ve been meaning to buy a new battery for my current Coolpix, but now I think, “why bother?” I should just spend 50 times more money on a new camera, right?

I ended up with some pretty amazing and completely unexpected not-xmas presents this year. I received the most precious little Asus Eee PC. Within 24 hours I had killed the crappy Xandros distro it came with and loaded up pretty, pretty Ubuntu EEE. It’s my new fave toy.
I also received a lovely pair of Earth shoes. Unfortunately they were too small, and they didn’t have any more in the company, so now I have a store credit and must keep my eyes peeled for new styles.
Add to that a coffee table Nikon book, a new box for storing goodies, lasagna, fudge, wine, fire, and love. It all made for quite an enjoyable December 25th.

We did so much celebrating that day that I totally forgot to wish Albee, The Baby, and Meech Happy, Happy Online Birthday.
The Kid sent me a link the other night to the apple trailer for 9.
A new era in animated storytelling begins on 9.9.09. Visionary filmmakers Tim Burton (The Corpse Bride, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory) and Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Nightwatch) join forces to produce wunderkind director Shane Acker’s distinctively original and thrilling tale. 9 stars Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connelly, Martin Landau, Christopher Plummer and Crispin Glover and features the music of Danny Elfman. When 9 (The Lord of the Ring’s Elijah Wood) first comes to life, he finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world. All humans are gone, and it is only by chance that he discovers a small community of others like him taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the earth intent on their extinction. Despite being the neophyte of the group, 9 convinces the others that hiding will do them no good. They must take the offensive if they are to survive, and they must discover why the machines want to destroy them in the first place. As they’ll soon come to learn, the very future of civilization may depend on them.
Tim Burton, Timur Bekmambetov, Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connelly, Crispin Glover, Danny Elfman, and The Knife?!?!?!? Oh my.

I was ordering some new stockings last night and came across this extremely well-endowed mannequin.
It made me laugh out loud.

A new collaboration from PJ Harvey and John Parish is set to be released on March 30th, 2009 through Island Records. Entitled “A Woman A Man Walked By”, the album was recorded in Bristol and Dorset, and mixed by Flood.
“A Woman A Man Walked By” is a follow up to Harvey and Parish’s previous collaboration “Dance Hall at Louse Point” (1996).
From johnparish.com
The new album, A Woman A Man Walked By, is due for release on March 30th. It was recorded in Bristol, by Ali Chant at Toybox studios, and in Dorset. It was produced by John Parish and PJ Harvey and mixed by Flood. There are live shows planned for shortly after the release. John has developed his own ‘Blue Steel’ look specially for the release. Here’s hoping the wind doesn’t change.
(this one is directed at james and maria. and i’m still crying over missing a “white chalk” show, so this one is a must no matter what)
