There was an eagle visiting the back yard the other day, stopping by for a fish breakfast. It was crazy. I snuck out to try and get a closer look, but of course he flew away to a tree across the water. I was sitting on the grass and he flew right over my head. He was huge.
Spring has exploded all over my back yard. Soon it will be unbearably hot and humid and buggy, but right this second, things are good. I’m gonna learn how to cut the grass. Until the bugs come out, I think I will be okay hanging out with nature.
Apparently Toad’s Place has shutdown. Shame. I guess Crystal and I won’t be seeing Ratatat there next month.
Dave Moore was in town a few days ago and we took a lovely spring walk to Taphouse to enjoy margaritas on the patio. While there, I kept seeing this girl out of the corner of my eye. Was she toying with me? Of course, I knew that my Crystal wasn’t really sitting at Taphouse – reading and sipping on a beer – but how could I not keep thinking of her?
The 701 was a delightful introduction to the world of eee pcs, but when I saw a 900-series one in real life, I was hooked and obsessed. I had to get one right away.
After extensive Atlanta online research, I settled on the Eee PC 900HA. Only slightly larger than the 700-series, it boasts a 9″ screen and 160 GB hard drive.
And what does one do immediately upon receiving her precious new toy? Why, hack it so that it runs Mac OS X, of course.
Using the amazingly detailed how-to on the eeeMac site combined with iDeneb tutorial found here (and this modded bios), I had Leopard up and running in about six hours. The only thing not working is wireless, and I am still impatiently waiting on the new card I ordered to arrive in the mail.
The most annoying thing to me about the eee before (both of them) was the ridiculously low sound. Forget about the speakers, they were pointless, but even with headphones it was hard to hear. Ever since making it an eeeMac, the sound is so loud. I rarely have it turned all the way up.
I’ve got Syncplicity running on all of my machines so that I can access all of my files anytime without having to bother with USB sticks or external harddrives. And my all-time favorite bonus feature about that is, since I’m syncing my music directory, all of my computers use the same iTunes library file and I can plug my iPod into any of them.
Only thing left to do (besides wireless card) is to get Windows running off a memory card so that I can have it handy if I need it. (Boot Camp and Parallels won’t work, and I don’t really want to waste space on dual-booting at this point)
