Death is
    more certain
   than breakfast.
You may or may not
   have breakfast,
but you’re sure as
    fuck going
     to die.

Miss Andra came by last week to make my hair change colors, and boy did it ever. I’ve kept it blackish for the past year or so, and was ready for something new, so I decided to go back to blonde.

After the first time she applied lightener, I ended up with a head streaked yellow, red, green, and blue. Quite a hair history going on.

She applied another coat, and after washing that out, I was down to yellow with bright blue streaks. And I’m not joking about the blue. It was bright blue.

She made some calls, and we discovered that the blue was the result of using henna on my hair. It oxidizes blue-green, and is a bitch to get out.

After that, she went to the store to get some red to try and tone down the blue, but it didn’t seem to make much of difference. After 5 hours, we decided to call it a day and try again the next.

Drove out the salon the next day, and we started with a bleach wash, which definitely toned it down, but the blue was still holding strong.

She concocted a few different experimental mixtures, and we settled on this really pretty warm blonde, with brighter blonde highlights. It came out quite lovely, except for the blue-green that refused to leave.

After spending 3.5 hours on it at the salon, we decided to call it quits for the day before my hair gave up and decided to fall out. She is coming back over on Tuesday for part three. Hopefully there will be a nice blonde resolve. If not, I guess I’m moving on to red.

Lesson learned – chemical dyes and plant based dyes do not play well together.

It’s just that I had such a long, hard, dark winter where I wasn’t doing much of anything, and now the sun is shining and manifesting itself in music and playtime.

Village w/CvT Impromptu Reunion
Monster! @TheBoot

Took a little VA adventure last week to visit some of my loves. Spent a night in Richmond hanging out with CvT. Ended up at my least favorite place, Sticky Rice, by Megan’s request. It worked out surprisingly well, though, because I ran into some faces I hadn’t seen in a decade. And Carla and Mike bravely joined me in hell and we had a lovely time laughing and joking away the night.

After suffering through a boring Realtor.com presentation the next day (ShamWow!), Mom, Meg, and I headed to the complete opposite of Sticky Rice in my world – ANTHRO! I got some delightful new dresses, and a handful of precious books.

Headed to the Charlottesville area after shopping adventures to spend an always fun-filled evening with my Crystal girl. In lieu of going out, we decided to cook in and spent the night drinking an enormous amount of wine and staying up really very late and cracking each other up all night long. Also, we were graced by an awesome thunder and lightning show while we laughed along with Mean Girls.

Friday I had the reunion of a lifetime when I got to visit with my beloved Meechie Monster. I drove out to her most adorable little house in the country, a land of no cell phone or internet for me. We had pizza din-din at Doctor Ho’s, stopped by a “crazy Indian party”, and spent the night catching up and loving and laughing and playing with kitties.

After a fun night at work Saturday, I attended two birthday parties, and ended the evening in the most perfect way – singing and dancing with Megan and Amanda at the Thao Nguyen show at The Boot.

I could enjoy weeks like this forever and ever…

Vincent Gallo? Yeah, I’ll check it out. I never made it through Youth Without Youth. I may try again one masochistic day.

I’m having a Bat for Lashes day. Must be all this rain and thunder and alone time. No complaints. Reminds me of our old Cure Sundays.
