Since the boring-ass Naro probably won’t show this (or may show it in January-ish), I’m happy to learn that it starts today on Video On Demand. Now to find a TV and cable and see if it’s showing here…

Finally.

Today is the beginning of Scorpio Season, my favorite time of year. I feel like this one has taken forever to arrive.

I am so ready to shed myself of 30, aka the worst year of my life, and move on to better things. This molting is long overdue. I’ve been waiting.

Already this week is filled with awesomeness. Music, parties, birthdays, visits, friends, super-sneaky ambushes… even dead pigs. I’m so madly in love with the people in my life and I can’t wait to spend ridiculous amounts of time with them.

Dive and burn. Rise again. Phoenix-like.

At first you’re thinking, “Kanye West? Seriously, Atlanta?” But just trudge through the first seven minutes and internally talk shit about him. The ending is worth it.

I don’t know anything about this except it is directed by Spike Jonze. Sure, I could look it up, but I am just happy that I watched it and think I may leave it at that.

Yeah, so I’m obsessed with Karin Dreijer Andersson (voice of the future) and Fever Ray. So what. Just leave me alone and go read this fun interview from The New Yorker.

Fave quote:

Andersson told me her husband had recently asked her, “Have you heard your own music? I don’t think you should be playing your neurotic stuff to our kids.”

Fave typo:

Lasers sprayed above our heads, and bounced off mirrors, shooting through the fug.

We’ve talked before about The Impossible Project’s plans to bring back instant film, and looks like things are finally starting to come together. Announced today:

The Impossible Project inspires Polaroid to re-launch Instant Cameras

We are pleased to herewith announce a history making cooperation between Polaroid and The Impossible Project:

As we have created quite some buzz about Analog Instant Photography over the past 12 months, the Polaroid licensee – The Summit Global Group – now can’t resist any longer and announced at a press conference on October 13th in Hongkong that they will re-launch some of the most famous Polaroid Instant Cameras.

Therefore they are commissioning The Impossible Project to develop and produce a limited edition of Polaroid branded Instant Films in the middle of 2010.

The Impossible Project is proud and excited that its ambitions and all the relentless work that has already been invested are now becoming the foundation for Polaroid’s comeback as a producer of Instant Cameras.

Large-scale production and worldwide sale of The Impossible Project’s new integral film materials under its own brand will already start in the beginning of 2010 – with a brand new and astonishing black and white Instant Film and the first colour films to follow in the course of the year.

and the Summit Global Group’s statement:

[...]
With so much speculation in the media recently about Polaroid instant photography, Summit Global is proud to announce the re-launch of instant photography. Strategic relationships with Impossible Project and ZINK Imaging have been forged to compliment Summit Global’s worldwide activities in order to support this re-launch.

This landmark announcement ushers in the NEW with the OLD and brings back one of the world’s most iconic brands and prepares to once again capture the hearts and minds of people all over the world.

Summit Global held a media event in Hong Kong today outlining its plans to bring back instant photography using traditional analog film to capture not only the people that admire Polaroid but to introduce a new generation of consumers to the brand. “With significant marketing effort being applied to instant photography, both with the re-launch of instant film and through product line expansion of the digital formats we will introduce the Polaroid Brand to younger consumers and ready them for a lifetime of Polaroid experiences”, says Giovanni Tomaselli, Managing Director of Summit Global.

Summit Global outlined plans to bring back many of the famous film formats. “This is the beginning of our instant analog directive that will span a family of products and return Polaroid to a relevant industry participant”, stated Mr. Tomaselli.

[...] The Polaroid “TWO”, the digital version of the traditional camera that produces instant digital photos was also showcased today along with plans to introduce, the Instant Digital Camera that produces 4″ X 3″ instant digital photos in 2010.

Today’s VIDEO THRWBCK at RCRD LBL is PJ’s “Dress,” which remains one of my fave PJ songs to this day.

When PJ Harvey first showed up it was kind of just flat-out exciting. She was a lot of things (sexy, forceful, punk, English), and none of them put her in any particular genre. She was alternative when that still seemed to mean something. Come to think of it, she’s still sort of a genre of her own. “Dress” was her first single, and it’ll always sound hot.

Also while in New York, James and I ventured out to “Williamsblegh” to catch the Kid Koala Presents The Slew show at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. I was still in a euphoric high from seeing Fever Ray, so nothing could quite compare, but I’m glad I got to see The Slew performed live. Kid Koala always puts on an entertaining show.

Adira Amram opened the show, and after I got into the groove of her humor, I found her to be quite enjoyable. Very Leslie & the Ly’s. I think apheck would approve.
