Oh August, it’s looking like you are going to end up being the best month ever. Not only do I get Mexico play date with OJ, a long-awaited visit from my Rob, Brooklyn reunion with Albee, CvT Brooklyn date, and Pumpkin’s b-day bash - but now I can add to that RVA-getaway with Crystal this Saturday.
And I just read that Busdriver is touring with People Under The Stairs and Flobots, and will be playing The National this Saturday!
I didn’t even ask Crystal’s permission, I just went ahead and bought the tickets and know that we will have the best night.
Saturday night I went with Megan and Amy and The Boys to see Margaret Cho and Ian Harvie at The NorVa. It was hilarious, for sure, but the best part of the evening was after-midnight Drunken Jenga Slumber Party! Did you know that Jenga is THE BEST GAME EVER?!?! Well, it is.
We couldn’t get enough of it. Amanda and I are totally hooked and we are planning another one for March 8th.
I finally was able to file my taxes today. I’ve been waiting on one stubborn statement and it just arrived. I’m getting a much-needed $4200 back federal and $1400 state. I love tax-return season!
Now we’re just waiting on one of Jared’s slow W2s to arrive.

Hopefully this wind will die down and we can watch it outside. Tonight (tuesday), 9:30-ish. Bring an outside chair if you have one. And stuff to keep warm.
I think the art show was a success. Sitting at Taphouse from 2pm-2am wasn’t exactly the best thing in the world, but many friends came through and many things were sold.
Some people were even lucky enough to get free ice cream.
While our fireworks-obsessed neighbors* scared the shit out of the majority of our kitties, Scott Chapman and Julio wanted to make their own 4th of July card in the back yard.

I just went to the store to buy some Designer Imposters for the party, but ended up getting Love’s Baby Soft instead. Ahahhahahahha. I’m am taking this 80s thing just way too far. I don’t know why it excites me so. Some weird effect of aging I guess.
OJ and I are attending an 80s themed birthday party tomorrow night. I managed to put together quite an outfit with Theresa’s help, but still needed to accessorize. I went to the mall yesterday to go to Claire’s because I figured they should at least have jelly bracelets. Little did I know that if you are shopping for an 80s ensemble, all you have to do is go to the mall!
I scored some clear jellies decorated with rhinestones, a silver sequin scarf, and lace 3/4 leggings from Dillard’s.
Claire’s turned out to be an absolute 80s wonderland. It was literally the same store it was when I was 10, they just traded out NKOTB for Pirates. I loaded up on hoop earrings, long pearl-ish necklaces, jelly bracelets, bangles, lace fingerless gloves, a ring watch (!!!!!), and an amazingly perfect, cheesy purse.
I headed to the drugstore for hair spray and blue eyeshadow and found some banana clips. Banana Clips!?!?!? Who still wears those? Oh, and neon pink nail polish. Naturally.
I completely forgot about lipstick, so I have to go back today for some, but other than that, I am all set.
