August 10th, 2008

The day started off right with a plate of chilaquiles rojo and a refreshing bottle of mineral water.

OJ, Lisa, and Chris were still feeling a bit hung over after breakfast, so I went out on a hike by myself. I got lost in a neighborhood and it was really nice taking in the sites and smells. I met up with them later and then we headed to Luke & Matt’s to await our luggage and the wedding.

All of the original wedding plans were altered by the torrential downpours. Rivers were running through the streets. We piled into cabs and went sliding down the narrow streets in one of the most exciting/scary cab rides ever.

The wedding was held in the amazingly beautiful house Kevin and Rachel were staying in. The houses around here are to die for. I could have swooned over that kitchen for hours.

I need to live in Mexico.

Since it was still raining after the wedding, we all piled into cabs again to head to Nirvana for the reception. They served us ridiculous amounts of food and alcohol there. I had some delicious wine and of course a handful of margaritas. Our waiter was so on top of it. He stopped by and asked if I wanted a new drink, and I said eventually since I still had a third of mine left. Then not two seconds after I finished, he appeared with a new one and set it in front of me and said, “Eventually.” It was the cutest.

For dinner I had watermelon gazpacho and hibiscus quesadillas. Hibiscus quesadillas. Seriously. That shit was so good. I need to get in the kitchen on that one.

Lisa and I got on this whole “face” kick after dinner and had people pose for whatever face we called out. It made for some awesome photos. (Which I can’t upload yet because the connection here just isn’t having it)

We all went back to Matt & Luke’s afterwards. The boys were put on alcohol duty, and had some crazy adventure buying from some hole in the wall. Literally.

It was a fun day, especially since I got to shower and have my belongings and eat hibiscus quesadillas.

Wedding

Kristina Helen Johnson
&
Trevor Martin Lewis

May 2nd, 2007

Well, Miss Kristina is now officially married. Jared and I attended the ceremony yesterday afternoon and acted as witnesses. Jared mostly cried while I played the part of photographer, DJ, and cupcake maker.

We weren’t allowed cameras or metal objects inside (Jules made KJ’s bouquet), so the judge was kind enough to move the ceremony outdoors. I made a great mix of Amelie tunes, sure to get the boys weepin’, which was quite the success.

After the ceremony, we went to Bardo, where we surprised the new couple with an impromptu wedding reception. They hadn’t even suspected a thing. I couldn’t believe it.

Considering this marriage was only decided upon a week and a half ago, I think everything was absolutely perfect. It was a great day for all.

Congratulations and Best Wishes!

Cheers!

Maria’s wedding Saturday night was a lot of fun. I ran into so many people from high school that I hadn’t thought about in the past 10 years. It was funny. I would walk past them, knowing that I somehow knew them, but it took me a while to place who they were. I wish James had gone with me, he would’ve gotten a kick out of it.

Afterwards we went and visited with Genny for a bit. She’s always stuck in the middle of some crazy drama. I got to see the kids, they thought Julio was a pirate (which of course made him sooo happy) and Marleigh told me I looked like a vampire (which of course makes me happy). Gen’s life is about to go through some serious changes, and I hope I get to spend more time with her after everything gets settled.

Maria and Matt are going to Tokyo for their honeymoon. That’s exactly where I was saying I would go before we got to the wedding. Jared is definitely down with the whole Iceland wedding thing next year, although he’s in it more for the marriage part and I’m just in it for the Iceland part. He doesn’t believe me when I say it’s not gonna be a “real” wedding. hee heee.

Oh yeah, two of the people I ran into at the wedding, Susanna and Odie, lived in Reykjavik for a year and they said that when we go next year they will hook us up with their friends so we can have some parties to go to. Yay!

Mark, Atlanta, Chair, & James
The first good surprise of the affair was seeing Mark. His Mom performed the ceremony. He’s doing really well, getting himself all cleaned up. I wish Bradford could have come too, but he’s always too busy trying to become a superstar.

Julio and Co. catered the event so I didn’t get to play with him too much. Chair and I kept going back there for quick visits though. It was more fun in the kitchen than with all those people out front.

Look how cute he is. Everyone devoured the food in like 30 seconds. It was amazing.

I just had some bread.

Once everyone was gone, and we were all in clean up mode, Other Jared thought it would be fun to smash his face into the cake. What he didn’t realise was that the cake had little wooden pegs all through it for support. One of them ended up jabbing him in the lip and he was covered in frosting and blood.

Gary made sure to pick all the the pegs out before he had a go of it.

Afterwards we went to Taphouse, hoping that had restocked their Pumpkin Ale.
At The Taphouse They still didn’t have an empty tap for it! So I was forced to drink New Castle all night. And Chair had to suffer through Delirium Tremens. Have you ever seen Chair after a couple of those? It’s so much fun.

The Taphouse was gloriously empty and we had complete control over the pool room. Charity and I can make a pool game last like it’s no one’s business! I am very slack about pool rules, I like to make my own. James and I teamed up against Chair and Other Jared. Somehow, though, we managed to win. I don’t think Other Jared ever got anything in.

It’s always a challenge to find good songs on the Taphouse jukebox. I think we came up with about 6 and just kept playing them over and over. I always end up listening to The Smiths and the Pixies when I’m there.

(the inspiration)

James discovered a bowl of powder and started doing what James does best.

James was more interested in the powder

Getting my hair down that night proved to be even more painful than getting it done. I swear those bobby pins were actually sewn into my head. When I was all done, I had a pile of 48 pins and 7 elastic bands.
Ouch!
